This is a weekly blog meme hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes and it runs on Goodreads. This week’s theme is hidden gems in your favourite genre. My favourite genre is fantasy and so I’ve picked five fantasy books that I haven’t seen talked about that much, and don’t have nearly as many Goodreads reviews as I would have expected.
All covers link to Goodreads.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme. It used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but now it is being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is books I can’t believe I read. I’ve focused on books that are outside of the normal for me. There’s a variety of genres here, but most of them are literary books because that is not my genre at all.

I enjoyed watching all these TBR videos on Booktube and then forgot what dates this readathon was actually running after all that (20th-26th January). I’ve been reading a lot for this reading challenge I’m doing so after the sabotage we were hit with, I couldn’t read anything that had a title longer than two words. Change of plans then!

In a continent on the edge of war, two witches hold its fate in their hands.
Young witches Safiya and Iseult have a habit of finding trouble. After clashing with a powerful Guildmaster and his ruthless Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are forced to flee their home.
Safi must avoid capture at all costs as she’s a rare Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lies. Many would kill for her magic, so Safi must keep it hidden – lest she be used in the struggle between empires. And Iseult’s true powers are hidden even from herself.
In a chance encounter at Court, Safi meets Prince Merik and makes him a reluctant ally. However, his help may not slow down the Bloodwitch now hot on the girls’ heels. All Safi and Iseult want is their freedom, but danger lies ahead. With war coming, treaties breaking and a magical contagion sweeping the land, the friends will have to fight emperors and mercenaries alike. For some will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

Now normally I do Top Ten Tuesday on… Tuesday but this week it’s going to be a little different. The Top Ten Tuesday and Top 5 Wednesday topics have been a little similar the past couple of weeks so when that happens, and I feel like I’m not covering any new ground, I’ll do something else on Tuesday or Wednesday. This week it’s Trope Tuesday.
This is a blog meme created by Lacy Literacy and I’ve been loving her trope tuesday posts and decided to join in with the blog meme! Basically, it’s where you talk about a trope you love/hate/indifferent towards.
This week I’m going to start off with one I really like but don’t see enough of and that is platonic relationships between a man and a woman.
The TV Tropes page is Like Brother and Sister.

Emi is the kamigakari. In a few short months, her life as a mortal will end and her new existence as the human host of a goddess will begin. Carefully hidden from those who would destroy her, she has prepared her mind, body, and soul to unite with the goddess-and not once has she doubted her chosen fate. Shiro is a yokai, a spirit of the earth, an enemy of the goddess Emi will soon host. Mystery shrouds his every move and his ruby eyes shine with cunning she can’t match and dares not trust. But she saved his life, and until his debt is paid, he is hers to command-whether she wants him or not. On the day they meet, everything Emi believes comes undone, swept away like snow upon the winter wind. For the first time, she wants to change her fate-but how can she erase a destiny already wrought in stone? Against the power of the gods, Shiro is her only hope… and hope is all she has left.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme. It used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but this week is the first week it is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Thank you very much to the Broke and the Bookish for hosting it for so many years!
This week’s theme is top ten bookish resolutions/goals. I have briefly talked about my goals here (2018 Goals) but I thought I would have a formalised list.
