Top Ten Books on my Summer TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme. It used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but now it is being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is ‘books to read by the pool/at the beach’ but I definitely preferred the summer TBR interpretation. I think everyone knows how much I love TBRs so this shouldn’t be a surprise!

I don’t tend to associate genres with seasons but if I had to pick one for summer, it would probably be contemporary/urban fantasy. Anything set in the present time, though a few historical fiction books snuck on here as well!

Anyone else got these books on their summer TBR?

    1. I’ve heard many good things about American Panda and I have a copy so this makes me hopeful. I definitely want to get around to it soon, it feels like such a summer book for me. Thank you!

      1. It was a far more emotional book than I thought. It definitely has it’s cute and hilarious parts but it also really goes into a lot of deeper topics in terms of family. That definitely made the book more enjoyable for me though. And you’re welcome! Hope you get to it soon!

  1. I also have really been getting into the fantasy genre this summer and although I’ve not heard of contemporary/urban fantasy I looked into your book recommendations and they look fantastic (thank you!) I hope you don’t mind me recommending a recent read of mine called Jamhuri, Njambi, & Fighting Zombies by author Ted Neill. The book follows 5 interweaving character stories that all involve a recent zombie outbreak. However, unlike your typical “zombie outbreak” plot this outbreak is magic in nature and causes the souls of people to depart from their bodies and become trapped in Limbo. This is a particularly unique story in that there is action, fantasy, folklore, zombies, princesses, and more. If you want to read about it check out the author’s website: https://www.tenebraypress.com/. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something really different and entertaining this summer. Happy Reading!

    1. I hope you enjoy the book recs, I’m really looking forward to them too. Thanks for the rec, I’ll have to check it out. 🙂
